Teacher Trainings

The most important part of any social emotional learning (SEL) program is the teacher–not the curriculum, however teachers can struggle with this challenge. Why is this?

  • Teachers feel overwhelmed and stressed with responsibilities, and therefore, resist teaching one more thing. Teaching SEL can reduce stress.

  • Teachers need an SEL curriculum that is easy, quick, and effective like In Focus to guide them through the brain and through all the required state goals and standards. The 10-15 minute In Focus lessons will teach students how to manage emotions, control impulses, and calm themselves so their behavior incidents will go down and academic learning will go up.

  • Teachers may not have personal experience with SEL training and most likely haven’t received SEL professional training.

  • Teachers are expected to teach SEL, but being vulnerable and honest in the classroom can be difficult for teachers because societal views have taught them to not to feel or express emotions.

  • Teachers need quality training and support to develop their own social emotional intelligence. In order to go inward and self-reflect, teachers need SEL training and support to learn and grow in this area.

I have been training teachers for 23 years, and I can help you.
