It took me 25 years as an educator and social worker before I was ready to write my In Focus social emotional learning curriculum. For years, I studied what works and what doesn’t work in terms of social emotional learning in schools. There is a high probability that any SEL program can plateau or even fail unless the certain key qualities are incorporated into the curriculum and training.
It is took me 2 years of writing, 7 days a week, to create the curriculum. It is the most difficult thing that I have ever done. The most challenging aspect was taking complex concepts, ideas, and skills and making them simple to understand and easy and quick to teach K-8 students.
I’m very proud that In Focus is now being used in 110 school districts across the United States and is positively impacting the mental health of over 81,000 students.
